Christmas crafts

We made some that I didn't have time to post until now. I guess better late than never, right?!

My daughter and I made these pony bead candy canes for
an economics fair at her elementary school. If you make
these, make sure to tuck the pipe cleaner under the
second and second to the last bead to hold the first and last
beads in place.

Decided to make a shirt for my daughter. I drew a reindeer
and traced it on the plain white shirt. I used just a pencil
because I didn't have fancy things like tracing paper or a
sewing pen with disappearing ink.

Here is the finished product. Because it is lined in beads
the lines are not perfect. That gives it the more handmade
look. I considered using sequence that's already sewn
together but the lines at Hobby Lobby were WAY too
long. (sorry, the picture wouldn't rotate!) I also thought
about hand embroidering this with glittery yarn but that
would've required a trip to Hobby Lobby and...
If you look closely enough, you can see this reindeer is
Rudolph with his red nose.

This picture will not turn either but whatever. This is a
picture of a teacher gift. I made these bags or pouches
by using white cardstock on the back and scrapbooking
paper in the front. Just used tape to tape it in the back
but I did miter the corners to make it nicer looking. I also
used decorative scissors to make edges pretty. I filled
the pouches with hot chocolate pouches and candy canes,
glued on a bow and voila, done.

Easy Rudolph the Rednose Reindeer hair accessories

This is quick and super fun to sport at school. This is what you need:

Hair pins
Googly eyes
Red pom pom
2 Brown pipe cleaners
(Hot) Glue

Glue googly eyes and pompom to hair pins. You are done. I used a small pompom and bigger googly eyes for my Rudolph in case you are wondering.

To make the antlers, I cut both pipe cleaners in half and twisted one half over the other a couple of times to make sure it stays in place. Once that's done I shaped the antlers the way I wanted them. My antlers look like forks but, like my daughter likes to say, that's the best I can do :)

If you are interested in finding out how to make the bun (below), e-mail me at HealthandWellnessGirl@gmail.com It's fast and easily done even on yourself!

Easy, fun and a big hit at the school and with my girl. Till next time!

DIY Mini Christmas trees

See those mini trees on my mantel?

I'm talking about these little puppies. They are made of recycled cereal and cracker boxes. This is what they looked like before I embellished them:

So that means you don't have to buy the expensive foam cones, you can make your own with the stuff you already have on hand! Love it!!

Here they are again:

1. Tree to the left was made by my daughter. She used pom poms to cover hers.
2. Tree in front of the pom pom one is made with white beans. It's my least favorite because there are gaps between the beans and you can see the brown of the cracker box peeking through. I should have spray painted it white before gluing on the beans :(
3. The green glittery tree is covered with ribbon found at the dollar section at Hobby Lobby.
4. The white tree is covered with thick yarn. I thought I had some jute but I didn't so I used this white stuff which is very similar to jute. It looks crooked in the picture but it's not in real life. It was sitting on a garland light bulb.
5. The green fluffy tree was made by my son. We used mini tree garland to decorate it.

My original idea was to find stuff at home to cover the trees but then I went to Hobby Lobby and well, game over. I was also going to find things around the house for the toppers but that didn't happen either. I bought the glitter stars at Walmart for something else but ended up using them for this project instead.

I'm still working on the last tree. I started to cover it with acorn caps or hats but apparently I waited too long. There are no more hats around! That tree will have to wait until next year to be finished :(

Happy "waiting for Christmas" time!

Elf on the shelf days 9 - 17

Jingle Bell and the chocolate syrup.

Jingle Bell went artistic with a dry erase marker and left messages
like "No fighting"...

...and "Get along!" on the kids' pictures.

Shameless cookie thief!

Joyriding in the Loving family van while impersonating Santa.
I don't even want to know what happened to the back door!

JB trying to break into my chocolate stash! He
must not know what happens to humans/elves
who try to eat my stash!!

Do you see what I see?

SURPRISE! Luckily JB left holes in case the kids
need to get through. And they do every night!

Hanging out with Santa and other toys.

Houston, we have a problem: JB has been kidnapped by evil
Mr. Pirate & gang! (yes, evil Mr Pirate is a cousin of evil
Mr. Porkchop)

What else is this mischievous elf going to come up with?! Tune in next week :)
